Account & sign-in

GrapeVest runs in two modes. Which one you pick depends on whether you use it on a single device or share the plan.

Local mode​

  • Data is kept in your browser (localStorage), with no login.
  • Works offline, with zero setup.
  • The data lives on one device/browser.

Cloud mode​

You sign in and your plan syncs through the cloud. Your data is end-to-end encrypted — only you (and an invited partner) can read it, not us. See Privacy & security.

Creating an account — step by step​

  1. Get started on the landing page opens account creation straight away. On a device where an account was used before it opens sign-in; a link below the form switches between the two. An invite link from your partner also opens account creation, with a line such as "Create an account to join Ania's plan.".
  2. Recovery code — shown once, right after the encryption keys are created. Continue works only after you tick "I saved the code in a safe place". If the page reloads before that, the code is shown again — until you confirm it, it's kept in this browser tab's memory and deleted after confirmation or sign-out.
  3. Your plan — Create my plan or I have an invite code (join your partner's plan). A new account starts with an empty plan; a plan you ran on this device without an account (setup finished) moves to the cloud.

How you sign in​

  • Password — cloud accounts use a password. The encryption key is derived from it on your device, so your data can be decrypted only by you.
  • Forgot your password? Your recovery code (shown once when you first sign in) restores access; you then set a new password.

Solo and Duo plans​

  • Solo — your private financial plan.
  • Duo — two people, one shared household: you both see the same plan, goals and progress. One person pays; both get access.

Price​

GrapeVest is in open beta and the whole app is free. A paid plan will come only once the app has real users, and we will announce it in advance. Your data stays untouched regardless of the plan.

Deleting your account​

Settings has an option to permanently delete your account (confirmed with your password). It removes the data of any household where you're the only member, in line with GDPR.
